Waterford Crystal Cup final: Impressive win for Clare

Clare defeated holders Tipperary at Thurles on Saturday to claim the Waterford Crystal Cup for the second time in their history.

Colin Ryan top scored with nine points, while Tony Kelly was outstanding for the winners.

Clare led at interval 0-14 to 1-8. The Banner were full value for their lead.

Patrick Maher grabbed Tipp's goal on 13 minutes, rounding off a superb team move.

However, scores from Kelly, Alan O'Neill, Enda Barrett and midfielder Fergal Lynch gave Clare the upper hand.

Shane O'Donnell's goal midway through the second half put daylight between the sides.

The Premier could only manage five points in the second half while corner back Conor O'Brien was dismissed for a second yellow card offence.
