Hard men of Monaghan club football

PJ Finlay was as hard as they come. I remember him putting manners on Plunkett Donaghy in the 88 Ulster Final. As someone else said Keith McGonnell was a hard nut, not your typical Harps man

dont know too much about the inniskeen 80's team, i know the 90s team were 10 points up against the faughs in a county final at half time and were still beat. there wasnt too many hard men on the field that day when they were needed.

Jack Mc Carville has to be number 1, nobody comes close to his on the field antics in the aggression department, though if he was playing today he'd be sent off in every game!

There was a flanagan played for yez 1 time, i belive a fierce man for walkin to matches, and a hardy footballer to, but no harm 2 yez Monaghan, yez may need more than a few more hardy footballers next year, especially that side of the draw yer on? Ye will need a few more decent footballers, we (Cavan) will probaly bump into each other goin through the back door!
I hope we do!

Scotstowns team of the 70s and 80s. tough wasent the word for it! The row was on before the ref threw the ball in. Can you imagine a team that had Mc Cruddens, Caulfields, Moynas and two sets of Mc Carvilles and then for good measure there was the Stirrits. Talk about a ref having a bad day at the office? It was any refs worst nightmare to be asked to ref a game between them and Blaney. Another team they seemed to have the hots for was Truagh and the too had a few characters who always loved a good skite at Scotstown.
