Eire Og Celtics - Minor Champions
Eire Og Celtics concluded their Minor Championship campaign on Tuesday last at Kingspan Breifne Park when the overpowered Blackwater Gaels in the county final, to record the first championship victory for the Drumgoon Parish amalgamation at their first attempt. In a comprehensive vistory, the parish team out-contested a physically imposing Blackwater Gaels team (Maghera, Mountnugent and Muntirconnacht) in virtually every aspect of the field, containing the south Cavan amalgamation to just one score from play in the hour, securing the Minor division 2 crown on a score-line of 4:09 to 0:04.

In what was an ompressive team performance, Ryan Carroll was steadfast in goal, secure under the high ball and superbly saving a penalty in the second half. The full back-line of Dominic Donegan, Tommy McKitterick and Ryan Craddock soaked up any challenges that came their way while the versatile half-bacl threesome of Mark Murray, Martin Fitzpatrick and Barry Cooneyhad the edge over the Blackwater Gaels forward line. Together with the versatile midfield of Ronan McDonald and Conor Moynagh who controlled the game, the Eire Og Celtic side built wave after wave of attack on the Gaels goal. The half forward line of Patrick Smith, Enda Hessn and Tom Hayes exploited the supply of ball delivered through their midfield while John Carney, Ian Craddock and Declan Smith, with Joseph Kelly and Francis McCabe (when introduced) ensured that the scoreboard continued to tick over throughout.

This was an impressive team performance by the Parish Team, with much credit due to team mentors Martin Clerkin, Mike Hannon, Patrick Lynch and John Farrelly.
