Re-fixed Camogie games gives duel players headache

August 18, 2008
The All-Ireland camogie semi-finals that were due to be played over the past weekend have been re-fixed for next Sunday, August 24. Both the Cork v Tipperary and Wexford v Galway ties which were due to be played in Kilkenny had to be postponed due to the venue being deemed unplayable with the heavy rain across the country over the week. The news means a busy weekend is in store for Cork's duel pairing of Briege Corkery and Mary O'Connor as will be in action with Cork's lady footballers, who are looking to defend their All-Ireland football title when they face Galway. Galway ladies footballers will also have Sarah Noone and Catriona Cormican committed to both football and camogie over the weekend. Speaking on the matter, Camogie president Liz Howard said: "Naturally, we are disappointed and we know this decision will impact on players and their preparations, but safety was paramount."
