Three new faces for Wexford
June 12, 2008
Wexford manager John Meyler
Colm Farrell, Stephen Banville and David Redmond will make their championship debuts for Wexford in Saturday's Leinster SHC semi-final against Dublin at Nowlan Park.
Farrell will partner MJ Furlong at midfield, while Banville and Redmond will link up with team captain Rory Jacob in the full forward line. Michael Jacob switches from his customary position in attack to right half back - the position his father of the same name occupied for many years during the 1970s and 80s.
The team selected by manager John Meyler is also notable for the return of David 'Doc' O'Connor to the defence after he was tried in the forwards last year. As expected, regular free-taker Stephen Nolan has failed to recover from a thumb injury, but Damien Fitzhenry has put his injury problems behind him to line out in goal.
Wexford (SF v Dublin): D Fitzhenry; M Travers, K Rossiter, P Roche; M Jacob, D O'Connor, D Stamp; MJ Furlong, C Farrell; PJ Nolan, E Quigley; D Lyng; D Redmond, S Banville, R Jacob.
