Captain dropped in Cork reshuffle
July 25, 2007

Cork's Ciaran Murphy
Cork captain Kieran Murphy is one of four players dropped from the Cork team for Sunday's All-Ireland hurling quarter-final against Waterford at Croke Park.
And because Murphy's Erin's Own team-mates Shane Murphy and Cian O'Connor have also been excluded from the side that lost to Tipperary, experienced corner forward Joe Deane will skipper the team for the first time.
Cork boss Gerald McCarthy has reacted to the shock Tipp defeat by introducing Shane O'Neill, Brian Murphy, Tom Kenny and Timmy McCarthy to his starting line-up. O'Neill and Murphy have been recalled in place of Shane Murphy and O'Connor, while the fit-again Kenny replaces Kevin Hartnett at midfield.
Castlelyons clubman McCarthy replaces team captain Murphy in attack, while Niall McCarthy has been named on the subs' bench after being given the all-clear to play following his recovery from a broken metatarsal.
