UL 1-11 Clare 0-08 New Clare manager Paidi O'Se did not get off to the best of starts as he saw his side lose to University of Limerick by six-points in the McGrath Cup at Miltown Malbay. O'Se is experienced enough to know that you cannot judge a side on one-performance, but he will also have his doubts over the strength of the Clare squad. The students finished the match far stronger than their opponents, despite trailing by a point with fifteen minutes remaining in this entertaining contest. Clare held the narrowest of margins at half time even though they had the advantage of a strong breeze during that opening period, half time score was 0-4 to 0-3. UL slowly got to grips with the match and when former Cork minor footballer Carthach Keane scored the only goal of the game with ten minutes remaining, there was only going to be one winner. Tweet
