Kearns appointed in Laois
September 26, 2006
Liam Kearns
Liam Kearns was ratified as the new Laois football manager at a county board meeting on Monday night, September 25.
Kearns takes over from fellow Kerryman Mick O'Dwyer, who spent the past four years with the O'Moore County. Kearns was in charge of Limerick for six years, during which time he oversaw a major improvement in the county's footballing fortunes. The Tralee man had been favourite for the position from an early stage, and saw off the challenge of former Laois star Pat Roe, who had a successful spell in charge of Wexford.
His backroom team has yet to be confirmed, but Kearns is understood to be seeking a list of potential selectors and will speak with them in the coming weeks.
