Henderson in frame for Wexford post
September 19, 2006
Former Kilkenny star Ger Henderson has been linked with the vacant hurling manager's post in Wexford.
A six-man sub-committee, which includes county board chairman Sean Quirke and Model County legend Tony Doran, was set up to find a new manager following Seamus Murphy's departure. Murphy stepped down in the wake of the All-Ireland quarter-final defeat to Clare.
The sub-committee recently met for the first time and is expected to meet again soon to draw up a list of potential candidates.
"Obviously, we would like to have the matter sorted out as soon as possible, but we will be putting no time-frame on it," Quirke said.
Ex-Wexford star Liam Dunne has also been linked with the post, but his involvement with the county minors is likely to rule him out of the running.
Henderson is a former All-Ireland winning selector and was a key member of the Kilkenny team that won back-to-back All-Irelands in 1982 and '83.
