The All-Ireland intermediate hurling championship belongs to Cork this year after their thrilling extra time win over Kilkenny in Dungarvan. Cork 3-15 Kilkenny 1-18 Kilkenny seemed to have one hand on the trophy when they led by 0-15 to 1-9 as the game ticked into added time but then up popped Rory O'Dwyer with a Rebel goal to send the game to extra time. Kilkenny looked shocked at the final whistle but found the resolve to hit the first three points in extra time but Cork's goal scoring ability came back to haunt the Cats. Rory Doherty fired in goal number three and two further points saw the Munster champions lead by 3-11 to 0-18 at the end of the first ten minutes of play. Buoyed by that goal Cork took control of proceedings and four successive points had them in the driving seat. Kilkenny did raise a green flag in the final minutes when minor Richie Hogan broke through to fire to the net.
