Fixture row set to be resolved
March 31, 2006
The postponed Donegal v Longford NFL Division 2A tie is expected to finally take place next Tuesday, April 4.
Over a month has passed since the game was called off because of a row over the venue. Both counties were of the understanding that they were entitled to home advantage, and this led to a bitter dispute which resulted in the game's postponement.
With the Longford under 21s playing in the Leinster final this weekend, they would not have been in a position to play the game on Saturday or Sunday. It's understood the midlanders have offered to travel to Ballyshannon on Tuesday evening, but Donegal are holding out for Ballybofey.
That extra 60-mile round trip is the stumbling block, but Croke Park officials are frustrated with the impasse and may intervene if a compromise is not reached.
