Ballinhassig ease past London challenge

December 12, 2005
Ballinhassig……1-16 Fr Murphy's……1-9 Cork and Munster champions Ballinhassig had seven points to spare over London's Fr Murphy's in this All-Ireland intermediate club hurling championship quarter-final at Ruislip. The visitors were 0-9 to 0-3 ahead at the interval having played into the bright sun in the opening half. Indeed, they would have been further in front had Fr Murphy's goalkeeper Enda Roche not produced a brilliant save from Damien O'Callaghan in the 19th minute. Whatever hopes Fr Murphy's had of getting back into contention were dashed within a minute of the restart when O'Callaghan scored a well-taken goal. Mick Gordon pulled back a goal for the losers, but with Darren Duggan, O'Callaghan, John Mullaney, Stephen Dineen and substitute Tadhg Coleman all scoring freely, Ballinhassig emerged as comfortable winners.
