O'Kane opts off Antrim panel
December 08, 2005
Gregory O Kane
Gregory O'Kane has joined Jim Connolly in turning down an offer to rejoin the Antrim hurling squad for the coming season.
New manager Jim McKernan wanted O'Kane to make himself available for selection, but the Dunloy forward has decided not the return. Last year's captain Connolly has also opted out after criticising the lack of commitment shown by players last season.
Better news for the Glensmen is the return of Dunloy half back Malachy Molloy to the county set-up. McKernan met with the squad earlier this week and hurling board chairman Pat Connolly described the atmosphere as "excellent".
Antrim will train at the Belfast Harlequins grounds in the south of the city and players will also be allowed to train one night a week with their clubs.
