Mark Vaughan confirmed for MBNA Kick Fada 2005
September 15, 2005
Dublin footballer Mark Vaughan is the latest player to be confirmed for Saturday's MBNA Kick Fada at Bray Emmett's GAA Club in Bray Co. Wicklow which will feature stars of Inter county football from all over the country shooting it out for the All Ireland title.
One family from Meath will introduce a bit of sibling rivalry to the occasion - Joseph and Damien Sheridan will compete for the Mens title and Mary and Philomena Sheridan will go head to head in the Women's competition.
The MBNA Kick Fada competition, football's equivalent of the Poc Fada, determines the champion "long and accurate kicker" of Gaelic football and will be hosted this year by RTE's Michael Lyster. Competitors must kick the ball over the bar through specific competition goal posts with distances measured from the posts to where the ball was kicked.
The champion male and female kickers will receive a ?1,500 holiday voucher and an MBNA Kick Fada All Ireland medal, with the overall winning kicker receiving the MBNA Kick Fada Champion Trophy. This will be the sixth annual MBNA Kick Fada All Ireland final and is once more hosted by Bray Emmetts GAA Club at their new grounds in Old Connacht Avenue, Bray. The event is free to the public and all are welcome.
