TJ Reid has indicated his desire to commit to a 21st season with Kilkenny.

Just a few weeks shy of his 39th birthday, Reid revealed that he has no plans to retire from inter-county duty after scoring five points for Ballyhale Shamrocks in their emphatic Kilkenny SHC final victory over Tullaroan last Sunday. Henry Shefflin has taken over the Cats and Reid says he’s ready to play for his former club and county team-mate if he wants him.

“My focus was Ballyhale. Obviously Henry’s the new manager. So, I don’t know. There’s nothing after starting yet anyway. At the moment, I’m still a Kilkenny player. So, that’s still there. We’ll see,” the veteran sharpshooter told reporters.

“Ballyhale Shamrocks is first and foremost. Obviously, you want to play forever. I’ll try my best to do that.

“If there’s a panel picked and if I’m called for it, I’ll be there. And if not, so be it.”
