Bans handed out following Antrim SHC brawl

Loughgiel and St John's have been punished after a post-match brawl marred their Antrim SHC encounter last Saturday week.

Loughgiel won by 0-30 to 3-14 at Fr Healy Park to top Group 1 and qualify directly for the semi-finals, but their victory was mired by fighting both on-and-off the pitch after the final whistle.

Arising from their investigation into the ugly scenes, Antrim CCC has now proposed one-match bans for three Loughgiel players and four St John's players as well as one official, while an official from each club have been issued with 12-week suspensions. 

A separate probe into the trouble on the terraces has yet to be concluded.

Both clubs have the right to appeal ahead of their upcoming knockout games. County champions St John's face Glenariffe in the Antrim SHC quarter-final on Saturday in Ballymena.
