There were ugly scenes on the pitch and in the stand after Loughgiel’s Antrim SHC group stage victory over St John’s.
Saturday night’s clash at Fr Healy Park - a repeat of last year’s county final – ended in a 0-30 to 3-14 win for Loughgiel over the holders, with both teams advancing to the business end of the competition.
However, tempers flared after the final whistle and a melee broke out on the pitch and punches were reportedly also thrown by spectators at the grounds.
An investigation is sure to follow and it remains to be seen what sanctions the two clubs might face.
