Former Dublin defender John Small believes the capital men don’t have much to fear heading into this weekend’s All-Ireland SFC quarter-finals.
After upsetting Donegal at Croke Park last Sunday, the Dubs return to headquarters the day after tomorrow to take on Galway for a place in the last four.
Speaking at the launch of the Electric Ireland All-Ireland MFC final between Cork and Tyrone, Small reckons that Ger Brennan’s side “are in a really strong position”.
“I don't think Dublin should have much to fear. I know Con (O'Callaghan) may be a doubt, but Colm Basquel was electric on the weekend too. Paddy (Small) is doing well.
“Cormac (Costello) has been excellent. He probably wasn't as good the last day, but he could have been carrying a knock or anything like that from the Cavan game.
“He'll definitely be better. Lads like Sean Bugler didn't start. Sean would get into most teams in the country.
“I think Dublin are in a really strong position.”
The Ballymun Kickhams clubman added: “I think the challenge is going to be just the week turnaround. Galway have two weeks, which is an advantage.
“So can Dublin manage that? Can they come down from the emotional high? But in terms of quality, I think there's no doubt, and they should be really looking forward to taking Galway on.”
