Ben O’Connor was full of praise for newcomers Paudie O’Sullivan, Barry Walsh and Hugh O’Connor after Cork made it four wins from four at Kilkenny’s expense in Division 1A of the Allianz Hurling League.
Despite making nine changes to his starting XV and handing the aforementioned trio their first starts, O’Connor’s side earned another impressive victory on the road as thoughts now turn to next Saturday evening’s top-of-the-table clash with Limerick at the TUS Gaelic Grounds.
“I am delighted, three fellas making their debut there today and they didn't look out of place," the Cork manager told TG4.
"That is what we are training. It was said to me before that there were nine changes and I didn't realise it - that is not the way we look at it.
"We'd four four or five injuries so they had to be changed, but it stands to the lads to see there is a reward for training hard and it keeps everyone on their toes."
O’Connor was also pleased with his side’s work-rate, adding: "It wasn't going to be anything nice down here. It wasn't going to be lovely first-touch hurling. It was about digging a result out and I think our boys battled very hard."
