Brian Dowling enjoyed a memorable weekend which yielded two massive wins.
On Saturday, the former Kilkenny hurler managed St Kieran’s College to an emphatic victory over local rivals Kilkenny CBS in the Leinster Post Primary Schools Senior ‘A’ Hurling Championship final before guiding his newly-promoted Kildare charges to a brilliant 3-21 to 0-20 victory over Antrim in Division 1B of the Allianz Hurling League at Cedral St Conleth’s Park yesterday.
After losing heavily to Dublin in the opening round, the fast-improving Lilywhites bounced back in impressive fashion thanks in no small part to 2-2 from Muiris Curtin.
“An absolutely brilliant weekend,” Dowling told reporters in Newbridge.
“You were dreading it all week. What if we lose the two games, what if we lose even one of them? That’s all in your head. But we were thrilled to win the Leinster final with Kieran’s, a great performance.
"And today then just tops off a brilliant weekend. I have to work tomorrow but I might get a bottle of wine or something on the way home!”
