Former Kerry manager Eamonn Fitzmaurice says he expects the Kingdom to “go for it” in their upcoming Allianz Football League campaign.

The All-Ireland champions begin their Division 1 title defence against newly promoted Roscommon on Sunday at Fitzgerald Stadium (2pm).

Speaking on the RTE GAA podcast this week, Fitzmaurice feels that the Kerry side will go full tilt at what would be Jack O’Connor’s sixth league title as manager.

"I think Kerry will go for it," said the 2014 All-Ireland winning boss. "Jack wants to do something he hasn’t done before, probably the only thing he is left to do which is to win back-to-back All-Irelands.

"Any of the years Kerry have won the All-Ireland under Jack, they have also won the league. The years after winning the All-Ireland, they have never won the league.

"I think he will place as much stock in it (league) as ever. I’d be expecting Kerry to be well in the mix. If they manage to make the final."
