Former Tyrone goalkeeper Lorcan Quinn has moved a step closer to fulfilling his NFL dream by joining college giants Alabama.
The Donaghmore man, who was sub-goalkeeper to Niall Morgan when Tyrone lifted the Sam Maguire in 2021, joined Marshall Thundering Herd last year via the Leader Kicking programme. Having made 21 of his 26 field goal attempts this season, he has now earned a move to Alabama, who are the biggest name in college football.
Unsurprisingly, the 23-year-old takes inspiration from what fellow Ulsterman and ex-Down 'keeper Charlie Smyth has achieved since making his NFL debut for the New Orleans Saints a couple of months ago.
"I look up to Charlie even though he's probably a couple of months younger than I am," said Quinn.
"He's inspiring loads of lads here and I'm sure a lot of lads are dreaming of doing the same thing as Charlie's doing. He's made it possible to even think about doing this because before Charlie, it wasn't possible.”
