Ian Maguire has been handed the Cork football captaincy for 2026.
The long-serving midfielder, who takes over the role from Brian Hurley, previously captained the Rebels from 2018 to 2021. He has been a regular fixture on the Cork team since 2014 and has won three Cork SFC medals with St Finbarr's, who suffered a heartbreaking defeat to Dingle in last month's Munster club SFC final.
TweetCork GAA is pleased to confirm that Ian Maguire of St Finbarr's has been appointed as captain of the Cork senior football team for the new season. We wish Ian and the Cork team and management every success in the year ahead. pic.twitter.com/CZYSwCc7NE
