TJ Reid has been confirmed as Kilkenny senior hurling captain for 2026.
The 38-year-old talisman is entering his 19th season with the Cats, having previously captained them in 2010 and '19 when they lost All-Ireland SHC finals to Tipperary. Reid skippered Ballyhale Shamrocks to a Kilkenny SHC title last year. As champions, Ballyhale had the honour of nominating this year's inter-county captain and decided to put the veteran sharpshooter's name forward for the role at their AGM earlier this week.
Another Ballyhale clubman, Darragh Corcoran, has also been named vice-captain for 2026.
Reid has won seven All-Ireland SHC medals as well as 14 Leinster SHC titles and seven All-Stars in an illustrious inter-county career, and now has Patrick Horgan's record firmly in his sights as he seeks to become the Championship's all-time top scorer.
