Conor Geaney has been reflecting on his last-gasp two-point free that handed Dingle a dramatic and historic victory over St Finbarr’s in last Sunday’s Munster club SFC final.
Speaking on RTÉ Radio 1’s Morning Ireland, the attacker modestly recalled: "There was a bit of a breeze there - a good bit of a breeze.
"I knew if I got it on target, throw it up into the wind to do the rest of the work. I just wanted to get a good strike on it, and luckily enough I did. I knew straight away that I'd kicked it well, so, yeah, I was kind of hoping it would go over, so, just happy with it."
After also claiming their first Kerry SFC title in 77 years a few weeks ago, Geaney says Dingle have plenty to celebrate before turning their thoughts to an All-Ireland club SFC semi-final against Ballyboden St Enda’s early in the New Year.
"It's probably the best I've ever felt on the football pitch, definitely, it's the best day ever," he enthused.
"We knew the county final was the biggest day for the club, in the club's history, and this just tops it all, easily. The way we did it was, that's another story... I can't really describe it. I was just so proud to be a Dingle man.
'This club, everybody's here, everybody left the town, nobody left at home, so it's just the best day ever."
