Ballymacelligott honoured their late team-mate Luke Silles’ memory by wearing a new set of jerseys sponsored by his parents, Tony and Paula, in conjunction with the Ballygarry Estate Hotel & Spa, in last Saturday’s Munster club JFC final.
The memorial jerseys brought out the best in the Kerry champions who powered to a 3-12 to 0-8 victory over Buttevant in Mallow. Eighteen-year-old Luke passed away following a tragic swimming accident in May and stitched underneath the club crest was the hashtag #livefor luke.
Tony Silles said: “Luke loved playing and being part of Ballymac GAA. We’re very proud of the team and their efforts — it’s a fitting tribute to Luke’s memory.”
