Patrick Horgan has made a quick return to the Cork hurling scene as an U20 selector.

Hurling’s all-time top scorer in both league and championship announced his inter-county retirement in September, but will be involved with the Rebels once again in 2026 after joining Dónal Óg Cusack (coach), Tadhg Óg Murphy and Sean Guiheen (selectors) in U20 manager Noel Furlong’s management team. ‘Hoggie’ replaces outgoing selector Vincent Hurley.

The Glen Rovers sharpshooter won four Munster SHC medals (2014, 2017, 2018 and 2025) and four All-Stars (2013, 2017, 2018, 2019) in an 18-year inter-county career, but All-Ireland glory eluded him.

Horgan and Furlong previously worked together when the Carrigtwohill man was part of Kieran Kingston's Cork management in 2022. Cork GAA has also announced that Vincent Cronin will be joining Keith Ricken’s minor football management set-up for the 2026 season.
