Easkey (Sligo) are Connacht club junior hurling champions for the fourth year in-a-row after edging out Ballinasloe (Galway) by 2-17 to 2-15 at the Connacht GAA Centre of Excellence in Bekan this afternoon.
Goals from Daniel Rolston and Finnan Cawley either side of half-time proved key for the holders who were able to hold off their Galway opponents’ late push which included a Cathal O’Hanlon penalty in injury-time.
The Sligo champions were 0-7 to 0-4 up when Rolston cut in and tucked away their first goal in the 20th minute.

Ballinasloe battle back with points via O’Hanlon and Alan Gauifleld to trim their deficit down to one and erased two Andrew Kilcullen frees with an O’Hanlon’s goal that had the scoreboard reading 1-9 apiece come half-time.
Another O’Hanlon free nudged Ballinasloe ahead and Cian Connolly would double their lead before Cawley rifled to the net for Easkey in the 36th minute and, from there, they’d stretch their advantage to six points.
The closing stages saw the Galway men rallying, but a late 1-1 from O’Hanlon left them two short in the end.
