Galway football manager Padraic Joyce enjoyed a brief chat and a handshake with his Manchester City counterpart Pep Guardiola after City’s 4-1 demolition of Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

Eagle-eyed viewers of TNT Sport’s coverage of the tie at the Etihad spotted Joyce – who recently extended his Galway tenure until 2028 – mingling with the Spaniard after a brace of goals from Erling Haaland and Rayan Cherki ensured City of a comfortable win over their German opponents.

Joyce also took the opportunity to pose for a photo with Pep alongside his wife Tracey and children Charlie and Jodie, who were decked out in the City colours.
