Paddy Lane and Joe O’Connor combined for 1-10 as Austin Stacks saw off Rathmore by 1-16 to 1-9 at Fitzgerald to advance to the Kerry senior football championship final for the first time since 2021.
The scores of Jordan Kissane, Lane and O’Connor saw the Tralee men leading by 0-8 to 0-4 at half-time and more points from Kissane and O’Connor had them six to the hood within four minutes of the restart.
Shane Ryan sailed over a two-pointer from a free for Rathmore, who’d trim their deficit to down through three via Fionn Murphy before stacks put their foot on the throttle again.
Lane’s point from play made it 0-14 to 0-8 with 11 minutes to go and, after a Ryan ‘45’ at the other end, O’Connor would burst through and rattle the Rathmore net in the 53rd minute to leave his team with one foot in the final.
Rathmore responded with a goal from John Moynihan in the very next attack but didn’t score again, as Ben Murphy’s late score rounded off the seven-point victory for Stacks.
