Naomh Conaill came from seven points down at half-time against Gaoth Dobhair to win out by 2-18 to 1-19 (AET) in Letterkenny and secure their third Donegal senior football championship title in four years.
The men from Glenties were led by youngsters Finbarr Roarty and Max Campbell, with corner-back Campbell’s goal in extra time a huge stride in getting them over the line towards an eighth county SFC success.

Dáire Ó Baoill’s penalty made it 1-6 to 0-5 in favour of Gaoth Dobhair midway through the first-half of normal time and the points of Odhran Mac Niallais, Stephen McFadden, Eamonn Collum and Micheál Roarty saw them taking in a 1-10 to 0-6 lead at the interval.
Kevin McGettigan’s goal on 40 minutes left three between the sides and, despite their opponents' push in the closing quarter, Gaoth Dobhair looked like holding on for the win until Shea Malone’s remarkable two-pointer forced extra time for Martin Regan’s men as the scoreboard read 1-13 apiece at the full-time whistle.

John O’Malley’s point put Glenties ahead for the first time and Campbell’s goal had them up by 2-16 to 1-13 at half-time in extra time.
The second period saw Gaoth Dobhair getting back into it with scores via Jordi Gribbion and Ethan Harkin (2), but they wouldn’t be enough as Naomh Conaill held on for the sweet victory that saw team captain O’Malley proudly collecting the Dr Maguire Cup on his club’s behalf.
