Two-time All-Ireland winner Pat Fox feels Tipperary are in “a great place” as underdogs going into this weekend’s Liam MacCarthy Cup decider against Cork.

Liam Cahill’s side will battle it out with the Rebels on Sunday at Croke Park (3.30pm) in a bid to record their county’s first All-Ireland SHC success since 2019, which would mark their 29th overall.

Speaking on RTE’s ‘Today’ programme, 1991 Hurler of the Year Fox said that Tipp are in “a far better state” now than when the two teams met in the second round of the Munster championship in late April, which saw Pat Ryan’s men recording a 4-27 to 0-24 win at Pairc Ui Chaoimh.

"Tipp are in a great place at the moment to be going in as underdogs," said the Cashel native.

"Cork are huge favourites for this, they beat us so badly in the last match - we should hardly be turning out at all!

"We're in a far better state now. We had young Darragh (McCarthy) sent off the last day against Cork and the game was null and void after that happening - this game is totally different.

"They're fantastic forwards, serious goal threats. We'll really be up against it."
