Kilkenny made it back-to-back Leinster minor hurling championship titles after an emphatic 4-11 to 1-8 win against Galway in Portlaoise this evening.
The Cats’ goals were the difference between the sides in the end, with three of them coming in the second-half at Laois Hire O’Moore Park to wrap up their county’s 61st provincial success in the grade.
Galway trailed by 0-3 to 0-2 when Cian Hannon smashed in their goal in the 18th minute, but it’d be erased three minutes later by Jake Mullen’s sweet strike for the holders.

From there, Niall Bergin’s lads went on to lead by 1-6 to 1-3 at the half and Eoin Brennan and Ollie O’Donovan would increase their advantage with points following the change of ends.
A couple of Cillian Roche frees looked to keep the Tribesmen in touch, however they were left with a mountain to try and climb once O’Donovan crashed in Kilkenny’s second goal in the 50th minute.
Goals were what Galway needed after that but it was the Cats that registered them instead, as Diarmuid Behan and Cian Byrne fired in to round off the win which now sees their team joining Cork in the All-Ireland semi-finals.
