Fermanagh got their Tailteann Cup campaign back on track with an emphatic 2-19 to 0-7 win against Longford at Glennon Brothers Pearse Park this afternoon.
After falling to Carlow in a surprise opening round loss last weekend, the Ernesiders bounced back with a much more assured performance in Longford Town.
Kieran Donnelly’s men built up a 0-9 to 0-4 lead by the end of the first-half and added goals from Conor Love and Aogan Kelm in the closing quarter to seal what was a comfortable victory in the end.
Westmeath made sure of their place in the knock-out stages with a game still to play by seeing off London on a 0-26 to 1-10 scoreline in Ruislip.
The game’s early stages saw London hitting 1-2 unaswered, including a Shay Rafter goal, before Dermot McCabe’s team got some momentum going and the scores of Danny McCartan and the in-form Luke Loughlin saw them lead by 0-8 to 1-3 at the half.

The Leinster men would dominate long portions of the second-half, with Sam McCartan landing three scores in-a-row for them and Loughlin and Ray Connellan helping to round off their final tally.
In Carrick-on-Shannon, Sligo would be made fight to the finish for a 2-19 to 1-18 victory against neighbours Leitrim.
The scores of Barry McNulty, Tom Prior and Darren Cox saw the home side taking in a surprise 0-11 to 0-8 lead at half-time and McNulty would have the ball in Sligo’s net six minutes into the second-half.
The Yeats men responded with a goal of their own via Darragh Cummins, but would still need another from Jack Lavin in the closing five minutes to ensure that an upset was avoided.
Meanwhile, the other second round derby saw Carlow and Wexford shared the points at Netwatch Cullen Park where it finished 2-16 to 1-19.
An airtight encounter saw Wexford edge a 0-9 to 0-8 lead at the halfway stage and while the Model men would go up by six, a Ross Dunphy goal halved Carlow’s deficit and they’d net a late Conor Doyle penalty to ensure they remain unbeaten heading into Round 3.
