Tipperary football manager Philly Ryan credited his side’s defending following their win over neighbours Waterford.
After the original fixture on Saturday had been postponed as a result of an unplayable pitch in Dungarvan, the two sides met at Walsh Park yesterday afternoon and it was Tipp that claimed a 1-14 to 0-9 victory.
The result means Ryan’s men are still unbeaten in Division 4, with two wins and a draw, and sit in second place behind Wexford in the promotion race.
“We can thank our backs – our defensive shape was excellent,” he told TippFM Sport after the game.
“Up front we left a few scores behind us and that’s just being probably a little bit critical but you always look to improve and we’ll look to improve between now and next week as well.
“Jimmy at the back, Jack, Manus they all had a job to do. They were excellent – from 1 to 36, 37 in this panel everybody is working. Every night they’re working very hard so don’t think the lads will take any individual credit for this win today. I think they’ll push it all back on everybody else.”
