Ciaran Whelan says last night’s Allianz League win over Kerry at Austin Stack Park will be a huge boost to this new-look Dublin side.
The capital men came from 11 points down at half-time to edge a 0-19 to 1-15 victory, marking their first over the Kingdom in Tralee since 1982.
Scores from Lorcan O’Dell and Luke Breathnach were crucial for the visitors down the home stretch as they avoided back-to-back defeats to take home both points.
"The new players stood up," Whelan said on RTE Sport after the game. "Luke Breathnach came on and kicked a two-pointer, Lorcan O’Dell kicked two two-pointers.
"David Clifford came on for Kerry for 20 minutes and Theo Clancy nullified him.
"For this Dublin team, it’s character building. The confidence that they will take from this going down the road, it’s a big thing for them as we didn’t see it coming at half-time.
"It was a brilliant second-half from Dublin."
TweetFT: Kerry 1-15 Dublin 0-19 Lorcan O'Dell got two two-pointers as a big impact sub.
