Carlow’s senior hurlers made history today by recording their first ever win over Waterford on a 2-21 to 1-19 scoreline at Netwatch Cullen Park.
Chris Nolan proved the hero for the home side as they secured their first win in this year’s Allianz League Division 1B at the expense of the Deise men.
Nolan’s first goal of the afternoon came in the opening minute as the Barrowsiders moved towards a 1-10 to 0-9 lead at half-time.
After the Munster side got it level, Carlow pushed in front once more and Nolan would net again in the 69th minute to seal what is a famous victory for Tom Mullally’s men.

In Portlaoise, Offaly proved too strong for Laois as they came away with a 1-24 to 1-15 victory which sees them top of the Division 1B table alongside Carlow.
Meanwhile, Antrim bounced back from their defeat on opening weekend by seeing off Westmeath (2-25 to 1-19) at Corrigan Park in west Belfast.
Having led 0-15 to 0-10 at the halfway stage, Davy Fitzgerald’s side netted goals via James McNaughton and Nigel Elliott to make sure of both points against the Lake County.
