Armagh secured their first win of this year’s Allianz Football League in style by handing old rivals Tyrone a 1-23 to 0-19 defeat at the BOX-IT Athletic Grounds.
After a below par display against Galway on opening weekend, the All-Ireland champions blew away the Red Hands in the first 35 minutes to run up a colossal 1-14 to 0-3 lead by half-time on their home turf.
The victors’ goal arrived on the 20-minute mark and saw Oisin Conaty and Rory Grugan combining to set Andrew Murnin up for a fisted finish which Niall Morgan could do nothing to prevent as he raced out of his goal.

The second-half did see a marked improvement from Tyrone in all areas of the pitch, as a couple of Darren McCurry two-pointers and singles from Brian Kennedy and Shea O’Hare took some tarnish off the scoreboard for them.
At the other end, ‘Man of the Match’ Ethan Rafferty (0-5) came up from goal to raise Armagh’s tally to 1-20 with a quarter of an hour to go and it’d be backed up by white flags from Jemar Hall, Murnin and Conor Turbitt to see out the job for Kieran McGeeney’s men.
