Cork football boss John Cleary has suffered yet another blow with the news that Thomas Clancy has retired from inter-county duty at the age of 32.

The Clonakilty defender, who made his senior championship debut in 2013, becomes the sixth player to leave the Cork panel since last June’s narrow All-Ireland SFC preliminary quarter-final loss to Louth.

2022 All-Star nominee and top scorer Steven Sherlock withdrew his services earlier this month. That came on the back of the retirements of John O’Rourke and Killian O’Hanlon, as well as defender Kevin Flahive’s move to Australia.

Panellist Damien Gore has also decided to take a year out from the inter-county scene.
