Mayo LGFA has entered a new licence agreement with Durkan Bohola Community Park which will act as a training base for all county teams.
Named after former Mayo Person of the Year Bill Durkan, the dedicated park will provide a centrally-located training facility for Mayo LGFA teams across all levels.
“Durkan Bohola Community Park is thrilled to confirm a new license agreement with Mayo LGFA, marking an exciting step forward for ladies' football in Mayo,” Mayo LGFA posted on Facebook.
“With player numbers growing each year, the sport continues to thrive across the county, evident in the Mayo U16 team reaching the All-Ireland final in 2024, and the U14s capturing the All-Ireland title in 2023.
“This partnership provides a valuable, centrally-located training facility for Mayo LGFA teams. Given the size of the county, many players have faced lengthy journeys for training sessions. Access to a dedicated field in Bohola will not only help to reduce travel times, but will also support the development and competitiveness of ladies' football at all age levels in Mayo.
“This strong partnership between Mayo LGFA and Durkan Bohola Community Park promises mutual benefits, fostering growth and camaraderie in the sport. Both groups eagerly anticipate the positive impact this collaboration will have in the years ahead.
“With funding of €445,000 secured from Community Sports Facilities Funding, we hope to see the development progress rapidly in 2025.
“Durkan Bohola Community Park and Mayo LGFA would like to thank Bill Durkan for his continued support towards the project.”
