Former Tipperary selector Charlie McGeever has aired concerns over the proposed new rules for Gaelic football.

The new rules which were trialled during last month’s Allianz Interprovincial Series at Croke Park are set to be voted on at Special Congress on November 30th.

Speaking to TippFM sport this week, McGeever, who previously guided Clonmel Commercials to four Tipperary SFC titles, says he doesn’t know how the new rules will be refereed.

“Jim Gavin has put some amount of time and effort into what he’s done,” he stated.

“He’s got his football review committee to come up with a number of things, seven or so. My concern is how these games are going to be refereed, I don’t know how.

“There’s so many lines involved in all these rules, there’s a 40m arc, there’s staying inside the 65, there’s players collecting the ball inside the 20, I don’t know how you’re going to manage that in the middle of winter with maybe no umpires or linesmen.”
