HWH Bunclody are expected to appeal the decision to overturn the result of last Saturday week’s Wexford IHC quarter-final against Fethard St Mogue’s.

Bunclody won the game 3-2 on penalties, but Wexford CCC have since awarded the game to Fethard on the basis that referee David Jenkins missed one of their points in extra-time. The tie finished in a 3-21 to 1-27 draw, but the CCC reached the conclusion that Bunclody won by a point.  

It means that Fethard, and not Bunclody, will face St James’ in the semi-final this Saturday if the latter’s appeal to Leinster Council fails.

In a statement on the controversy, Wexford GAA said: "(Wexford CCC) have held a hearing into the outcome of the meeting of Fiodh Ard Mhaodhóig Naofa v Tig Leath Slí Bun Clóidí in the quarter-final of The Courtyard Ferns Intermediate Hurling Championship.

"Having considered all the evidence submitted by both parties, the Committee has made the following decision in accordance with Code 15.1 in relation to the objection lodged:

“The game is awarded to Fiodh Ard Mhaodhóig Naofa.”
