Tullamore and Ferbane to meet in 2023 Offaly SFC final repeat

Tullamore and Ferbane will face off in the Offaly SFC final for the second year in-a-row on Sunday week.

With new Offaly joint football boss Mickey Harte an interested spectator, holders Tullamore were surprisingly comfortable 2-8 to 0-5 winners over Edenderry in the second of yesterday’s semi-final double-header at Glenisk O’Connor Park. Cormac Egan gave Niall Stack’s men a dream start with a brilliant second-minute goal before the excellent Daire McDaid netted from a penalty to send them into the break with a 2-2 to 0-2 lead after playing against the strong wind.

A disappointing Edenderry could only manage three points after the restart, with star man Cian Farrell being restricted to just two from play.

In the opening game, Ferbane recovered from a slow start to trump Shamrocks by 2-13 to 2-7 and avenge their surprise first round defeat to the same opposition.

Darragh Flynn bagged 2-5 for Ger Rafferty’s side who are set to be without injured-plagued county hurler David Nally for the decider after he was forced off with a shoulder injury in the closing stages.
