St Peter's, Dunboyne hit 1-1 in injury-time to stun holders Summerhill and move into the semi-finals of the Meath senior football championship.

It finished 1-15 to 1-14 at Pairc Tailteann, where the game looked to be headed for extra time until Dunboyne’s late raid saw a Liam Byrne point backed up by a Craig Lowndes goal in the fourth minute of injury-time.

The would-be winners had led at the halfway stage (0-9 to 0-6) but the first three points of the restart went the way of Summerhill via Adam McDonnell and Meath forward Eoghan Frayne (2).

The 2018 champions pushed three clear again but Conor Gillespie’s men rallied late and points from Frayne and Barry Dardis (2) left it all square with two minutes left in normal time.

Extra time looked to be on the way until ‘keeper Byrne sailed over a long range free in the 63rd minute before Lowndes palmed in the goal that sealed the victory for Dunboyne.

Ger Robinson’s charges now face Dunshaughlin in the semi-finals while Skryne will take on Wolfe Tones for a place in next month’s Keegan Cup decider.
