Armagh moved into their first All-Ireland minor football championship final in 15 years after seeing off Mayo by 0-16 to 1-6 at Pearse Park this evening.

Aidan O’Rourke’s team recovered from the concession of an Andrew Quinn goal in the opening minute to dominate for large portion at the Longford Town venue and advance towards a final date with Derry on Saturday week, July 6th.

Despite the early setback, the scores of Shea Loughran, Diarmuid O’Rourke and Eoin Duffy would help the Orchard lads storm in front by the 20th minute before Oisin Deane and Kobe McDonald pulled back for Mayo that it had honours even (0-7 to 1-4) come the break.

The second-half would see the Ulster side move up through the gears as Loughran (2), Eoin Duffy and Fionn Toale made it a six-point game with a quarter of an hour remaining.

Meanwhile, the Connacht champions would only manage two points for the entire half via Deane and McDonald in the closing 10 minutes, which were erased by Aaron Garvey and Daithi O’Callaghan down the home stretch as Armagh ran out seven-point winners in the end.
