The first phase of the long-awaited redevelopment of Casement Park has begun in earnest.
Workers moved onto the site yesterday morning to commence maintenance and pre-enabling works which will continue for the next few weeks. The West Belfast ground, which has lain derelict since 2013, is due to be transformed into a 34,500-seater stadium in time to be a host venue for Euro 2028.
“As our team commences this phase of the project, we would like to thank the local community for their support and patience over the last number of years as we plan for an exciting new future for Casement Park,” Ulster GAA Stadium Board chairman Tom Daly said last week.
