It’s a big evening in the Fitzgibbon Cup with the two semi-finals taking place.
At 5.15pm in Mallow, Mary I and SETU Waterford face off. Managed by Cork’s Jamie Wall, Mary I defeated Limerick rivals TUS Midwest in the quarter-final, while SETU Waterford overcame SETU Carlow 1-19 to 1-13, with Patrick and Padraig Fitzgerald scoring 1-10 between them.
St Joseph’s Doora-Barefield is the venue for the other semi-final between University of Galway and UL at 6.30pm. In the quarter-finals, goals from Colm Molloy, Niall Collins, Gavin Lee and Shane Morgan propelled last year's runners-up University of Galway to a 4-24 to 1-14 win over MTU Cork, while Mark Rodgers' late goal sealed a 1-21 to 0-16 victory for three-in-a-row chasing UL over record holders UCC.
