Hurling's loss would appear to be rugby's gain in the case of Ben O'Connor.
The multi-talented St Finbarr’s clubman was named Man of the Match after starring for the Ireland U20s in their dramatic 23-22 Six Nations win over Italy at Virgin Media Park in Cork last night. A late try from fellow-Cork man Sean Edogbo snatched victory from the jaws of defeat for the defending champions.
O'Connor joined the Munster Rugby Academy after helping Cork to their third All-Ireland U20HC title in four years last summer. He also captained the Rebels to All-Ireland MHC glory in 2021. But sadly for Cork hurling, his future lies with rugby where a big career surely awaits him.
