Peter Cooke isn’t part of Galway football manager Pádraic Joyce’s 2024 plans.

Joyce confirmed that the Moycullen man will not be part of his squad this year after the Tribesmen opened their Allianz League campaign with an eight-point defeat to neighbours Mayo in Salthill. Cook didn’t feature for Galway either in 2020 and ’22 due to work commitments.

Joyce also confirmed that the decision not to play Damien Comer yesterday was a precautionary one after he picked up an injury during training.

"He picked up a little knock on Thursday and teams nowadays have to be in Croke Park on a Wednesday, I don't know why. Even though lads are playing Sigerson on Wednesday afternoon, teams have to be in. He picked up a knock on Thursday and we weren't going to chance him," the manager said.
