Three games took place in the Dioralyte Walsh Cup and Connacht Hurling League last night.

In the first round of the Walsh Cup, Laois overcame neighbours Offaly by 2-18 to 0-18, while Dublin hammered Westmeath 2-31 to 1-12 in Parnell Park.

Goals in either half from Mark Dowling and goalkeeper Enda Rowland (penalty) were central to Laois' victory in Portlaoise, while a second half scoring blitz powered Dublin past Westmeath.

At the University of Galway Connacht GAA Airdome, David Mangan and AJ Willis were in fine scoring form as New York defeated a Galway development side by 1-27 to 1-16 to qualify for the Connacht Hurling League final against Mayo on Saturday.
